Ellen SimonEllen Simon has fought for the rights of individuals and families her entire life. For more than 25 years, Ellen has been an attorney, an advocate and a community activist working tirelessly to protect the rights of individuals against corporations and special interests in this country. She has been an active volunteer in hospice care for the elderly and understands the struggles Arizona’s working families face everyday.

Ellen has had one of the most distinguished and successful legal careers in the U.S. and was instrumental in creating the field of employee protection law, winning numerous landmark cases for workers that others had turned their backs on. She fought for the rights of people who illegally lost their jobs because of age discrimination. She defended workers who  were fired for needing time off for cancer treatment. And she has stood by senior citizens who were abused in nursing homes.

Ellen is ready to take American politics in a new direction and to represent Arizona's 1st Congressional District with honestly, integrity and a passionate commitment to improving the lives of hard-working families who deserve a true advocate and champion.

“The current administration in Washington has not kept faith with the American people and has taken our country in the wrong direction” says Ellen. “I will fight for working families in Arizona, while we restore Americans' trust in their government and regain the respect we have lost around the world.”

Ellen's belief in justice and fairness runs deep in her family. As the daughter of two Holocaust survivors, she grew up cherishing the freedom, tolerance and hope that our country stands for.

“Every year since 1949, my family has celebrated the day my parents arrived in this country,” says Ellen. “And not a day goes by that we are not grateful for the freedoms we have as Americans. Ever since I was a little girl I have known in my heart that being an American is a solemn privilege and responsibility; one that I have tried to repay through service to my country and to others. Representing the families of this district is part of that service and commitment to others.”

After graduating from Brandeis University, Ellen attended Suffolk University Law School, going on to serve as a law clerk for a federal judge on the United States District Court. Throughout her 25-year legal career, Ellen won  numerous landmark rulings upholding the rights of working people. Ellen has been named in The Best Lawyers in America.

Ellen has two children and lives in Sedona, Arizona with her husband.
